Review: The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater

Updated: Jul 11

Synopsis

Even if Blue hadn't been told her true love would die if she kissed him, she would stay away from boys. Especially the ones from the local private school known as Raven Boys, they only mean trouble.

But this is the year that everything will change for Blue.

This is the year that she will be drawn into the strange and sinister world of the Raven Boys. And the year Blue will discover that magic does exist. This is the year she will fall in love.

Before Thoughts

My first couple of thoughts before starting this book were: I hope this is going to be worth the hype and after reading the synopsis another thought came to mind, one Blue is a witch or supernatural being and the four boys on the cover are also supernatural beings - they shift into ravens and that's why they are known as Raven Boys. I thought the book would be in Blue's POV and we, the reader, get to see her life and how she meets the Raven Boys and go on an adventure of some kind with them.

After Thoughts

I loved this book so much! The characters were so reliable...well Gansey was okay. Loved Blue and Adam. I really hoped they get together, but I know Blue and Gansey are supposed to be together, but I really want Adam and Blue together.

I loved the adventure of finding Glendower was so awesome! Maggie really knows how to write great adventure scenes. It felt like I was watching it happen on my TV. The writing was fantastic. I am in the process of taking Maggie's seminar since I want to get better at writing my novels.

My rating for this would be 5/5 stars. I am going to get the rest of the books in the series cause I need to know what is going to happen next.

This is gonna be my book club's next pick, even though I already read it, I don't mind re-reading it over again and I will annotate this time.

I recommend this book to those who love adventure, romance, death, ghosts, and magic. I believe I got this book from Book Depository for at least $10 at the time.
