Review: Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell

Updated: Jul 24, 2022

I just finished this lovely book yesterday. I have so many thoughts that I don’t know where to start. I guess I can start with the rating.

I gave get 5 stars. I love how Rainbow makes Wren be the typical college freshman - who goes out and gets drunk every night, got alcohol poisoning, almost got dumped by her boyfriend, and not really caring about her school work very much.

I love how she goes into detail about how college life for being a freshman because when I was in my freshman year, I would be Cath and stay in my room with my roommate just watching movies.

When I first started reading this, I really did not like Cath and I was about to DNF this because of how Cath was being a shy, introverted freshman just eating protein bars for dinner and I’m like “Girl, go to the dining hall that’s not dinner!” But I kept reading and started to understand Cath more and when her sister was kind of a focus in a few chapters I was pissed with Wren. Like when Wren texted Cath 911, Wren just didn’t give a damn about worrying Cath or the time she got alcohol poisoning she wanted to drink again! Like girl are you crazy! You could have died! But the one person who pissed me off more was their mother! Oh my goodness their mother!

I just finished this lovely book. I have so many thoughts that I don’t know where to start. I guess I can start with the rating. My rating was 4.5/5 stars. I really loved this book, I might get my own copy since I borrowed this book from the library, but that's okay cause I still have the audiobook on Libro.fm I'll link everything here.

Now on to the next book.
