Review: Cinderella is Dead by Kalynn Bayron

Updated: 6 days ago

Rating: 5 stars

Ok, before I get into the review, I absolutely loved this book! Thank you Kalynn for creating this book that made me not want to put this book down. Anyway with the review:

Cinderella is Dead is a Cinderella retelling and it takes place after 200 years since Cinderella found Prince Charming. Teen girls have to attend the Annual Ball, where wealthy men and men who are of age from the kingdom get to choose brides based on the girl's display (mostly their dresses). If the match is not good then the girls are never heard from again. We follow Sophia who is a sixteen-year-old girl, who is in love with her best friend Erin, instead of marrying a rich man, but Sophia decides to leave the ball to live the way she wants to and not being forced to love a man. Sophia meets this girl named Constance after escaping and they vow to take down the king once and for all.

As I said before I said what the book is about, I loved everything about this book. Loved all the characters, the writing, the plot, the entire fantasy aspect. Everything was great and I loved/hated the twist towards the end (was very shook by it) but everything was great. Had a great time reading this. One thing I didn't like was Sophia's best friend, Erin. Hated her!

I recommend this book for people who like retellings with fantasy/dystopian and LGBT+ mixed up with it. If you're into that then here is a book for you. I got this book from taking a lovely trip to Barnes and Noble's before I went back to school in August and I was walking through the YA section and boom! There it is, looking all beautiful in its glory. Linked below are the Amazon and Barnes and Noble if you want to buy the book, I believe there is a pdf version of this book for those who can't buy books right now.

Some information on Kalynn is that she is a debut author and classically train vocalist. She grew up in Alaska and when she's not writing she's listening to Ella Fitzgerald on loop, watching scary movies, spending time with her family, and/or attending the theater. Her Instagram is @KalynnBayron, if you want to give her some love here it is.

Kind of forgot how I usually end these, but I will tell you what I'm currently reading right now. It's A Good Girl's Guide to Murder by Holly Jackson. I was hoping to finish this by December 31, but I don't think it's going to happen, but never say never right? I'll keep you guys posted, either here or on my Instagram about my progress.

Hope you all had a great Merry Christmas and an awesome New Year. 2021 here we come! Woo!
